Embroidered Landscapes

My embroidered landscapes are ‘painted’ using a pallet of silk, cotton, and wool threads and yarn on a Belgian linen base. I use traditional stitches and surface weaving to create the image. Starting with a drawing of the main forms, I allow myself to elaborate on details as the image emerges. Using thread and yarn has translated into a deeper knowledge of color and texture, which is put to use in my collage landscapes and watercolors.
